The Gornerschlucht gorge is an area of exceptional natural beauty very near to the village of Blatten. The gorge developed due to erosion by the Gornervispe river after the last Ice Age. It was opened to tourists in 1886/87. There are two ways to cross the gorge: cross the upper part of the Gornerschlucht with a mountain guide in three to four hours in an exhilarating adventure trip or cross the lower part of the Gornerschlucht without special equipment with the system dating from 1886/87.
The gorge and the Blatten restaurant are open from mid-June until mid-December.
